comfort books
People talk about comfort food all of the time but I've found that I have comfort-other-things too. For instance, the first several years I flew I had to read Jonathan Livingston Seagull right beforehand. I'd like to know what books other people re-read in trying times.

I don't really have comfort books. Usually I'm too bleary-eyed and scatterbrained when I'm upset to be able to read. I have 2 comfort movies, though: Bridget Jones's Diary and Four Weddings and a Funeral. I could watch them each 100 times. I kind of feel like I might have to watch one tonight, in fact. Oooooooooooh GAWD. Only 1.5 more hours of work.
Oh... and I also take comfort in wearing "the sweatshirt of despair" which is looking for a wearing this evening as well!
Oh no, not the sweatshirt of despair!
I do love watching those two movies, as you well know, especially when I'm hung over.
I re-read the Anne McCaffrey Dragonrider books -- the first trilogy, and the Harper Hall trilogy always work for me.
Also, Ender's Game.
I think they're comforting not because of the stories (um, Ender's Game?), but because they're old friends of stories, and they never disappoint me.
Huh, I don't know Enders Game. I will have to look that one up. Anne McCaffrey I can understand!
