having a real week

Nope, not yet. This week we had an assembly Monday, we have mass tomorrow and we have a pep rally on Thursday. Friday, believe it or not, is the Halloween Carnival. The kids come and have fun for half of the day, then go home to sleep off their candy comas.

For those of us who take teaching seriously, as in we think it is important, these sorts of weeks are beyond belief. We walk around saying to each other, "Really?" and then we amend our lesson plans to accomodate the stupidity.

So in between the madness, I try to teach my kids how to write an essay, how to read a book and actually get something out of it, and how to pick an adjective that fits the noun and isn't "great".
