i'll tame you yet, you rascally vcr

Since I lost my old tv with the built-in vcr, I haven't been able to tape any shows. The PIG lent me his vcr and with a lot of swearing I got it hooked up and the time set and then set to tape. And then I tried to watch the video...

Nothing. The remote has like 12 buttons that seem as though they should switch from tv viewing to vcr but none work, or I haven't hit on the right combination yet.

Use the manual, stupid, you're thinking. Didn't you think I tried that when I was trying to get the thing set up? I followed the directions quite faithfully and nothing happened. From now on I will only use the manual when I can't figure it out by pushing buttons.

dancing cars

So we're having a dance at my school in about a month. The PIG's parents will have just arrived and I have to decide whether or not to sign up to chaperone. The PIG could come too, or he could go to the movies and then come pick me up later, or we could all skip it, OR the 'rents, PIG and I could all chaperone.

Decisions, decisions.

Oh, and we decided not to get any new cars for now. It doesn't make sense financially, and despite all of my Want New Car yearnings, I will have to wait.

Boo.

weekend activities

We test drove the Honda Fit on Saturday. I really liked it. Everything is tight--the steering, brakes, acceleration. On my car everything is squooshy and the turning radius is a joke. There is a lot of space to pack things in, including the dogs. The only downside is that the interior only comes in black. Later that day I gave a short presentation to my old volunteer group. While I heart my new job, I miss being able to hang out with them, scheme with them and eat all of the good food that seems to surround them. When that finished, the PIG and I drove on to Katy to visit with some of my friends from college. It was a very low key evening.

dr. whooo, ooh, ooh dr. who!

Your Score: The Fourth Doctor

You scored 16% intelligence, 11% compassion, 60% sense of humor, and 43% weirdness!

Where you're concerned, priority one is having fun. You're not as absent-minded as you look, but you are pretty irresponsible. You would never, say, allow one of your companions to die in a space freighter explosion, but you might let him THINK he's about to die just before you go in and save him. (You know. For shits 'n' giggles.) Your turn-ons include yo-yo mastery, Harry Potter enthusiasts, jellied confections, and strong wine. Your turn-offs include imbeciles, falling rocks, quarries, and radio antennas. Chances are, you're a dog person.

off to camp

Sorry for the radio silence. I've been crazy busy with work and was away for part of the weekend, blah blah blah.

Anyhoo, the kids and the rest of the faculty and I are Going to Camp tomorrow and will be back Friday afternoon, at which time we will thrust the children into the waiting arms of their parents and collapse.

Today was Parent Day, when parents visited school until noon. We crammed 6 classes into 3 hours and had parents journaling, making signs for the snack cart and generally getting a taste of what their kids do each day.

I am very tired.
